Dutchman Dylan van Baarle said after signing a new contract with Team Ineos he’s targeting one of those classics following year.
Even the 27-year-old, who combined the ensemble in 2018, was a key element in Egan Bernal’s Tour de France victory this year as well as winning the Herald Sun Tour.
“I had been a much better bicycle rider and I want to find that progress to last,” Van Baarle, that is a part of a potent Dutch team at the world championships in Yorkshire next week, said in a statement.
“This year with Egan winning the Tour it was a fantasy. Coming into this team, it’s exactly what I aimed for to become a part of the Tour group and winning. With first and second (Geraint Thomas) it had been a very nice three weeks.”
He said the one-day screenplay will probably be among his goals next year, as well as establishing himself at the Grand Tours.
“I trust I can be on the podium in a significant classic. In addition, I need to be really critical in the Grand Tours, helping for even longer than I did this season.”
